How payment works today
Today the customer pays the kaarigar directly. The kaarigar quotes, the customer agrees the price before anyone travels, the work is done, and the customer pays cash or sends the money to the kaarigar's wallet. Mechanics4U does not hold the money and does not take a cut from the customer. Kaarigar registration is free for the first hundred and PKR 500 after that; that is the only money that comes to us.
The wallets Pakistani customers use
These are the wallets our customers and kaarigars already use to pay each other. They are here because that is how Pakistan pays, not because any of them has signed an agreement with us.
Tip for customers: agree the payment method with the kaarigar before the visit, and pay only once the job is done and you have checked it. Tip for kaarigars: put the wallet you prefer in the quote message so there is no confusion at the door.
What we are building: escrow protection coming soon
Escrow protection coming soon. The idea is simple: the customer's payment is held when they choose a kaarigar, and released to the kaarigar when the customer confirms the job is done. The kaarigar knows the money is real before travelling; the customer knows the money does not move until the work is right. It also gives our 48-hour re-work cover something to stand on.
We are not giving a date. It goes live when it is right, and this page will say so.
What we look for in a payment partner
- A wallet or bank that can collect from a customer and pay out to a kaarigar's wallet, with an API we can build on
- Comfortable with small tickets: most repair jobs are between PKR 500 and PKR 20,000
- A settlement and dispute process that a kaarigar in Orangi or Shahdara can understand
- Interest in what comes after: kaarigar payouts, tool financing, a way for a good kaarigar to show a bank a year of real income
