Safety

Simple steps for customers before opening the door, and the rights of a kaarigar at an unsafe site.

In short: Customers: check the badge, the name and the face photo on the profile, and ask for the CNIC at the door. Kaarigars: you can refuse an unsafe site and report a customer. Either side can reach a person on WhatsApp 0313 2813999.

For customers

  1. Look for the badge. The identity badge means a person on our team compared the kaarigar's CNIC with their account. It does not appear automatically. See Repairer verification for what it does and does not mean.
  2. Know who is coming. When you choose a kaarigar you get their name, face photo and number. Look at the photo before the visit.
  3. ID at the door. Ask the person to say their name. Compare their face with the profile photo. If you are not sure, ask to see their CNIC. A genuine kaarigar will show it. If the person is not the one on the profile, do not let them in. Report it.
  4. Keep the chat on the platform. Agree the scope and the price in the chat so there is a record.
  5. Do not be alone if you can help it. For a visit inside the home, having another adult present is sensible.
  6. Valuables. Put cash, phones and jewellery away before the visit. This protects both sides from a misunderstanding.
  7. Pay the agreed price. Do not pay in advance for a job that has not started. No one from Mechanics4U will ask you to send money to us for a repair.
  8. Something wrong? Ask the kaarigar to leave. Then report it in the app, by email to support@mechanics4u.com, or on WhatsApp. If you are in danger, call the police first.

For kaarigars

  1. You may refuse an unsafe site. If a site has exposed live wiring, unstable structures, gas smell, no light, aggressive people or animals, or anything that puts you at risk, you can stop and leave. Say so in the chat. A refusal for a real safety reason does not count as a no-show.
  2. Use your own judgement about the job. If a job needs a licence, a second person or equipment you do not have, say so rather than attempt it.
  3. Tell someone where you are. Share the job area with a family member or a colleague before a first visit.
  4. Do not carry more cash than you need. Keep payment records in the chat.
  5. Report a customer. If a customer threatens you, refuses to pay the agreed price, asks for something illegal, or harasses you, report them from the job page or by email. We hear both sides. A customer found to have done this is limited or removed. See Community guidelines.
  6. Your own safety gear. Gloves, eye protection, a mask for dusty work, and a tester before touching wiring. We do not supply these and you are responsible for using them.

Photos and privacy on site

A kaarigar may photograph the fault and the finished work for the job record. Do not photograph people, rooms or documents unrelated to the job. A customer may ask that no photos be taken inside the home and the kaarigar must respect that.

Emergencies

Mechanics4U is not an emergency service. For a fire, a gas leak, a serious injury or a crime in progress, call the emergency services in your city first. Tell us afterwards so we can act on the account involved.

What Mechanics4U does

We check identity before a kaarigar goes live. We keep a chat record. We read every report and act on accounts. We do not attend jobs, we do not supervise work, and we cannot promise how any person will behave. Please use the steps above. Full details on our responsibility are in the Terms of use.
