What the materials desk is
Some repairs need parts or building material. A customer or a kaarigar can ask for a price for those materials through Mechanics4U. A supplier replies with a quote. The customer decides whether to buy. Mechanics4U introduces the two sides. We do not sell the material, we do not hold stock, and we do not handle the payment.
Quote validity
- A quote must state the item, the quantity, the brand or grade, the unit price, the total, and whether delivery is included.
- A quote is valid for the period written on it. If no period is written, it is valid for seven days from the time it was sent.
- Material prices change. A supplier may withdraw a quote before it is accepted, but must say so in the chat. Once the customer accepts in the chat, the price is fixed for that order.
- A quote for a branded part must name the brand. "Original" or "genuine" must be true.
Delivery
- Delivery is agreed between the customer and the supplier. The quote must say who delivers, when, and at what cost.
- Until the material is handed over at the agreed place, it is the supplier's responsibility.
- The customer, or the kaarigar receiving on the customer's behalf, should check the quantity and condition at handover and raise any shortfall in the chat the same day.
- Mechanics4U does not deliver anything and is not responsible for delay, damage in transit or a wrong item.
Payment
The customer pays the supplier directly, in cash or as the two sides agree. Mechanics4U does not collect the payment. No one from Mechanics4U will ask you to send money to us for materials. See Pricing and payments.
Commission, disclosed before it applies
Mechanics4U takes no commission on material quotes today. If we ever agree a commission with suppliers, we will publish the rate on this page before it starts, tell every registered supplier in writing, and make sure a customer can always see the full price they will pay. A supplier will never be charged something they did not agree to.
Returns and faulty material
A supplier must state their return rule in the quote. Wrong item, wrong quantity or a part that is dead on arrival should be replaced by the supplier. Material that was correctly supplied and then damaged on site is not the supplier's responsibility. Disputes follow Dispute resolution.
Kaarigars and material
If a kaarigar sources material for a job, they must tell the customer the price before buying it and must not add a hidden margin. A kaarigar may charge for their time to fetch material if this is agreed in the chat first.
Suppliers who want to join
Write to partners@mechanics4u.com. A supplier account is registered by a named adult with the same identity check as a kaarigar, and follows the Terms of use.
