Cancelling before anyone travels
Either side can cancel in the chat before the kaarigar sets off. No penalty. Please say so as early as you can, so the other person can plan their day.
When a customer cancels late
A late cancellation is one made after the kaarigar has already left for your address, or one made at the door. A kaarigar has spent time and fuel. What happens:
- The kaarigar may ask for a fair visiting charge for the wasted trip. Agree it in the chat. Mechanics4U does not set this charge and does not collect it.
- We note the late cancellation on the customer's account.
- Three late cancellations or no-shows in a short time can limit the account, for example a pause on posting new jobs until you speak to support.
When a customer is not home
If the kaarigar arrives at the agreed time and nobody answers after a call and a message, that counts as a customer no-show. It is treated the same as a late cancellation.
When a kaarigar does not show up
A kaarigar who accepts a job and does not arrive, and does not tell the customer beforehand, has broken the Repairer Terms. What happens:
- The customer can mark the job as "kaarigar did not come". The job reopens and other kaarigars can quote.
- The kaarigar's rating takes a hit. A no-show note is stored on their record.
- The kaarigar's profile is ranked lower in search and in job matching for a time.
- Repeated no-shows lead to removal from the platform. See Repairer verification for the removal rules.
A kaarigar who tells the customer early that they cannot come, and gives a reason, is not penalised for a first occasion. Life happens. Silence is the problem.
When a job is stopped part way
If work has started and the customer stops it, pay for the work done so far and for any parts already fitted. If the kaarigar stops part way without a good reason, the customer pays only for what was completed and can ask for a replacement kaarigar through support.
Refunds
Platform fees. Mechanics4U charges the customer no fee today. There is nothing to refund. If we introduce a fee in future, its refund rule will be written here before it applies.
Money paid to a kaarigar. Payment is made directly between you and the kaarigar. Mechanics4U does not hold it and cannot refund it. If you paid for work that was not done, tell the kaarigar in the chat first, then follow Dispute resolution. We will mediate and we can act on the kaarigar's account, but we cannot take money from one person and give it to another.
Kaarigar registration fee. Registration is free for the first 100 kaarigars and PKR 500 after that. The fee pays for the manual identity check. It is not refunded if the application is rejected because the CNIC photos are false or belong to someone else. It is refunded if we cannot complete the check for a reason on our side.
Escrow, once live
If we add a payment option where the customer's money is held until the job is complete, cancellations and refunds for those jobs will follow the rules on Pricing and payments, which we will publish before that option is switched on.
