What Kaam Seekhen is
Kaam Seekhen is the learning section of Mechanics4U. An ustaad, a working kaarigar, or an institute lists a class or a course. A learner leaves a request or joins a class. Fees, days and hours are set by the teacher. Mechanics4U introduces the two sides. We do not run the classes and we do not employ the teachers. See Learn a trade.
Age and consent
- A learner must be at least 16 years old.
- A learner under 18 needs a parent's or guardian's consent before joining an in-person class. The ustaad must have that consent, in writing or in the chat, before the first session, and the guardian is the person we contact about the learner.
- An ustaad or institute must be registered by an adult, with the same identity check as any kaarigar. See Repairer verification. A "verified institute" mark is placed by our team, never automatically.
Safety in an in-person class
A workshop has tools, electricity, heat and sometimes chemicals. The ustaad is responsible for the safety of the class. That means:
- Showing the learner how to use each tool before they use it.
- Providing or requiring eye protection, gloves and a mask where the work needs them.
- Never leaving a learner under 18 alone with live wiring, a running engine, gas or a cutting tool.
- Keeping a first-aid kit and knowing the nearest clinic.
- Treating the learner with respect. Harassment of a learner leads to a ban. See Community guidelines.
A learner, or a guardian, may leave a class that feels unsafe and report it to us.
Fees and refunds
- The ustaad or institute sets the fee. The learner pays them directly. Mechanics4U charges the learner nothing today and takes no cut. Any future fee is announced first, as on Pricing and payments.
- The fee, what it covers, how many sessions, and the refund rule must be written in the chat before the learner pays anything.
- If the ustaad cancels the course before it starts, any fee paid is returned in full.
- If the learner withdraws before the first session, the ustaad should return the fee minus any cost they have already spent on materials for that learner, and must say what that cost is.
- Once sessions have started, refunds follow what was agreed in the chat. If the ustaad stops teaching without a reason, the learner is owed the unused part of the fee.
- Mechanics4U does not hold the money and cannot refund it, but we mediate. See Dispute resolution.
Who is responsible for what
- The ustaad or institute: the content of the course, the safety of the workshop, honest description of what the learner will be able to do at the end, and any certificate they promise.
- The learner: attending, following safety instructions, paying the agreed fee, and respecting the workshop and its customers.
- The guardian of a learner under 18: giving consent, and being reachable.
- Mechanics4U: checking the identity of the ustaad or institute, keeping the chat record, mediating disputes, and removing accounts that break these rules. We do not certify courses and we do not promise a job at the end.
