Check one: the price you agreed is the price you pay
On Mechanics4U the price is agreed before the visit, in writing on the job, and that number is the number. If the kaarigar found extra work, it should have been agreed with you before it was done, with a new number, not announced at the end. Open the job and compare the accepted quote with what is being asked; anything on top that you did not approve is not owed. A plain visit or fault-finding charge is normal only when it was quoted as such.
Check two: the parts and the labour on separate lines
- Ask which parts were fitted and see the old ones
- Match the part prices to the quote; "incl." rows include the part, others do not
- Genuine, local or used should be what was agreed, not a surprise
- For material jobs, count the bags or pieces against the delivery note
- Keep the part packaging or the shop receipt for any part warranty
Check three: the fault is fixed, not hidden
Test it in front of the kaarigar before paying: run the AC for ten minutes, fill and flush the commode twice, put a load on the UPS, start the car and use the AC in idle. If it is a wiring job, switch everything on together. A kaarigar who is confident in the work will wait for the test.
Name and CNIC: who you are paying
Every registered kaarigar on Mechanics4U has a name, phone and city on the platform, and verified profiles have had their CNIC checked. You do not need to photograph anyone's card; you need to know that the person you are paying is the person on the job, so the 48-hour cover and any dispute have a name attached. If a different person turned up, note it on the job before paying.
The 48-hour cover and how to use it
If the same fault comes back within 48 hours, the same kaarigar returns and does the labour free. That only works if the job is closed properly on the platform with the agreed price and the date, so finish the job on Mechanics4U, do not just hand over cash and forget. If the fault returns, message through the job first; that is the record.
Paying: cash, transfer, and the receipt
Pay the agreed number, by whichever method you both agreed, and mark the job complete. Ask for a receipt or write the amount, date and the kaarigar's name on the job yourself. A receipt matters for parts with a warranty and for anything you may claim on later.
Common questions
The kaarigar is asking for more than the agreed price. Do I have to pay it?
Not for work you did not approve. Extra work should be agreed before it is done, with a new number. Compare what is asked with the accepted quote on the job.
Should I ask a kaarigar for their CNIC?
You do not need to photograph it. Registered kaarigars on Mechanics4U have a name, phone and city on the platform and verified profiles have had the CNIC checked; make sure the person on the job is the person you are paying.
What does the 48-hour cover mean?
If the same fault returns within 48 hours, the same kaarigar comes back and the labour is free. Close the job properly on the platform so the record exists.
Should I pay before or after testing?
After. Run the appliance, the tap, the car or the circuit in front of the kaarigar before the money changes hands.
Is a visit charge normal?
Yes, when it was quoted as a visit or fault-finding charge before the visit. It is not normal as a surprise on top of a fixed job price.
