UPS battery price and install cost (2026): the shop's bill and the electrician's bill

The battery is a product: the shop prices it by its size in ampere-hours (Ah) and by type, dry (maintenance-free) or tubular lead-acid, and the rate moves with the price of lead. Tubular batteries usually last longer with topping up and tolerate the daily cycling of load-shedding; dry batteries need no water and sit indoors safely. The Ah you need depends on the fans and lights you want to run and for how many hours; tell the electrician those and let them size it rather than buying the biggest you can afford.
